The Zero Emission Can Project:
A Groundbreaking Sustainability Initiative
Our flagship initiative, the Zero Emission Can Project, represents our unwavering commitment to sustainability. This innovative project is designed to significantly reduce per-ton carbon emissions in steel production for the metal packaging industry.
For the first time in the industry, our closed-loop production process employs a revolutionary three-pronged approach:
1. Recycling: Utilizing recycled containers as raw materials.
2. Detinning: Removing coatings from recycled steel to prepare it for reuse.
3. Eco-Friendly Melting: Employing an electric arc furnace (EAF) to melt materials, dramatically lowering CO2 emissions compared to traditional methods.
This process enables the safe and efficient use of EAF technology to melt packaging product substrates, setting a new standard in environmentally friendly steel production.
